About the Role

This is a future hiring need for a UI Engineer. We will review applications and reach out only if we feel your expertise aligns with an upcoming opportunity. The role reflects the most frequent work we encounter in this discipline.

Location & Work Model

Rushdown Studios is based in Saratoga Springs, NY. We prefer local candidates who can work from our office on a hybrid basis (Tuesday-Thursday). Full‑remote work is also supported for candidates across New York State or other states where we conduct business.

Responsibilities

  • Ramp up quickly with existing codebases
  • Research and propose improvements to UI processes and pipelines
  • Develop best practices for the team for performant use of UMG and Slate
  • Profile the game’s UI in Unreal Engine and prioritize performance fixes
  • Support in‑game features that integrate with online SDKs with an eye toward performance and usability
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers to transform wireframes and interfaces into functional in‑game elements
  • Optimize and profile UI performance to ensure a smooth player experience

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of professional experience with C++ and Unreal Engine, including UMG UI Designer and Slate UI Framework
  • Demonstrated proficiency in developing user interfaces for PC or console games
  • Experience with memory management tooling and profiling
  • Deep understanding of UI design principles and usability
  • Keen eye for detail
  • Willingness to put player experiences first—before your own code and ego
  • Proactive approach to communication, particularly when unblocking yourself and navigating team obstacles

Nice‑to‑Haves

  • Familiarity with Coherent, Scaleform, or ActionScript
  • Experience modding games in any capacity
