About the Role

Abre is looking for a Product UI/UX Designer II to help shape the future of our product experiences. In this role, you will translate vision into intuitive, accessible designs, collaborate with cross-functional squads, and contribute to Abre’s design system. You’ll conduct user research, create wireframes and high-fidelity designs, and partner closely with engineering to ensure smooth implementation. This role is ideal for a designer who is empathetic, thoughtful, and passionate about creating meaningful educational experiences.

What you’ll do

  • Contribute to the vision for Abre’s product experiences and translate that vision into intuitive, accessible designs.
  • Conduct light user research and usability testing to understand customer needs and inform design decisions.
  • Analyze competitor products and industry trends to identify opportunities for improving usability and brand alignment.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that clarify complex workflows.
  • Collaborate within a cross-functional squad of PMs, engineers, and QA to design, prototype, and deliver product features and improvements.
  • Partner closely with engineering to ensure smooth handoffs and accurate implementation of designs.
  • Own portions of Abre’s design system, ensuring consistency across desktop and mobile products.
  • Share design work regularly with peers and stakeholders, incorporating feedback and explaining design decisions.
  • Promote accessibility and inclusive design practices across all product experiences.
  • Demonstrate empathy for educators, students, and families by deeply considering the challenges they face in everyday use.
  • Communicate a design point of view, decisions, and rationale effectively to colleagues, stakeholders, and other interested parties.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 1–4 years of experience as a UI/UX Designer working on responsive web products.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating craft in both interaction (UX) and visual (UI) design.
  • Proficiency with modern design tools such as Figma.
  • Experience collaborating directly with developers and product managers.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Comfortable collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams in a fully remote work environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience designing in SaaS or education technology environments.
  • Familiarity with HTML and CSS for effective collaboration with engineers.
  • Experience working with design systems and contributing scalable components.
  • Comfort with both qualitative and quantitative user research methods.
  • Knowledge of branding and how visual design reinforces identity and trust.
