We are seeking a dynamic Principal Digital Factory Developer with a strong emphasis on UI/UX design and data visualization to join our Smart Digital Factory and Automation (SDF&A) team. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and deployment of innovative Industry 4.0 solutions, leveraging cutting-edge tools and technologies. Your expertise in creating user-centric interfaces and translating complex manufacturing data into actionable insights will play a pivotal role in advancing our digital transformation initiatives and driving operational excellence.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the design and development of Ignition-based applications and IIoT solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
  • Architect and implement user-friendly, intuitive interfaces and dashboards using tools such as Figma and Ignition.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and leadership to gather requirements and deliver scalable, user-centric solutions.
  • Develop and deploy automation workflows to streamline manufacturing processes.
  • Integrate and visualize data from various sources, including SQL Server, SAP, Snowflake, and other factory systems, to support decision-making.
  • Conduct usability testing, iterative design reviews, and mockup validation to ensure optimal user experience and adoption.
  • Provide recommendations and execution strategies for connecting manufacturing equipment to the IIoT/OT layer network using communication protocols (e.g., Modbus/TCP, MQTT, EIP).
  • Analyze and correlate large datasets, ensuring data integrity and delivering actionable insights through advanced analytics and visualization.
  • Mentor junior team members in UI/UX best practices, data visualization techniques, and digital solution development.
  • Support root cause corrective action (RCCA) for hardware and software issues, ensuring system reliability and performance.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience. Engineering/Other Technical Positions unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • 5+ years of experience in software systems development, with significant expertise in Ignition SCADA, UI/UX design, or data visualization.
  • Experience designing and deploying dashboards and user interfaces using tools such as Ignition, Figma, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages, including SQL, Python, HTML5/CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Strong project management, communication, and collaboration skills, with a history of working across organizational boundaries.
  • Experience with Industry 4.0 concepts, including connectivity, IIoT, systems integration, and data analytics.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus/TCP, MQTT, EIP).
  • Demonstrated ability to connect disparate data systems, build APIs, and create scalable web applications.
  • Ignition Gold Certification or willingness to achieve within the first year.
  • Expertise in advanced data analytics and visualization, including tools like Snowflake, Postgres, and Splunk!
  • Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems (MES) and factory automation tools, such as robots, vision systems, or PLCs.
  • Experience in usability testing, accessibility improvements, and iterative design processes.
  • Big data experience, including data mining and advanced analytics techniques.

The salary range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
