Husson’s School of Science and Humanities is seeking part‑time instructors to teach the following courses:
Courses
- First‑Year Composition I and II – teach composition, argumentation, and strategies for college‑level writing.
- Communication – Speech, Professional Communication, and Interpersonal Communication.
- Writing in the Health Professions – research writing, APA formatting, interoffice communication, and public health communication within the health care context.
- Writing Workshop Lab facilitator (1 credit) – meet with developmental English students and help them address writing assignments; may be assigned to more than one section.
Duties
- Adapt the standard Husson course syllabi and outcomes; prepare syllabi for assigned courses.
- Prepare and teach the assigned courses with student learning outcomes and academic rigor in mind.
- Learn and apply all relevant Husson academic and faculty policies.
- Work collaboratively with the Chair of Humanities, the Writing Program Administrator, and other faculty.
- Learn and use Husson’s Canvas CMS, Gmail, faculty and portal.
- Attend occasional training or coordination meetings.
Qualifications
- Composition I & II – completed a Master’s degree in English, Communications, or a related field.
- Writing in the Health Professions – completed a Master’s degree in English or Communications or related field and some experience working in the health professions strongly preferred.
- Communication – completed a Master’s degree in Communication or a related field.
- Lab Facilitators – completed some graduate work in English or a related field and illustrate an understanding of English Composition, including a working understanding of the writing process, grammar, and mechanics.
- For all positions: some college teaching experience preferred.
Compensation
- Undergraduate Course – Master’s prepared $933.33 maximum per credit hour.
- Undergraduate Course – Doctoral or equivalent prepared $1,016.67 maximum per credit hour.
- Graduate Course – Master’s level prepared $1,016.67 maximum per credit hour.
- Graduate Course – Doctoral or equivalent prepared $1,100.00 maximum per credit hour.
- Rate is dependent upon the number of students enrolled in the course assigned.
- Lab Sections Undergraduate – Master’s prepared $1,150.00 per credit hour; Doctoral or equivalent prepared $1,250.00 per credit hour.
