Communication and Outreach Coordinator III
Position: The City Auditor’s Office seeks a versatile communication professional to expand accountability and transparency work with historically underserved Portlanders. Responsibilities include coordinating outreach and engagement, overseeing publication design, managing online presence, and advancing the office’s communications program.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate implementation of the Strategic Communications Plan, the Auditor’s Office Racial Equity Plan, and the Division Racial Equity Plan.
- Plan and conduct public engagement activities across the office.
- Supervise internal communications staff and manage publication design and web presence.
- Develop and execute a social media strategy and evaluate consultant proposals.
- Administer and oversee consultant contracts.
Required Qualifications
- Deep understanding of the City’s impact on marginalized communities and the resulting distrust of government.
- Existing relationships with community organizations led by and for communities of color, and leaders representing historically disenfranchised communities.
- Expertise in culturally competent, cross‑cultural, and accessible communication.
- Proficiency with a variety of communication formats and platforms.
- Experience developing and implementing communications strategies.
- Some experience supervising others (project or personnel management).
- Commitment to government accountability and transparency.
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, public affairs, public administration, or related field.
- Four years of progressively responsible experience in communication, public engagement, or related field.

Additional Information
Salary is determined per Oregon State Pay Equity Law based on experience and education. The position is located in City Hall, 1221 SW 4th Ave and operates on a hybrid schedule. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage, as well as PERS and additional benefits.
