Shipping Supervisor
The Enoch Pratt Library has an opening for a Shipping Supervisor. The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the shipping team and vehicle fleet supervision for the Enoch Pratt Free Library. This role ensures the safe, compliant, and efficient transportation of goods and mail, the supervision of driver staff, and the proper maintenance of library vehicles. Additionally, the Shipping Supervisor oversees logistics support for special events and property maintenance tasks across the downtown region.

Summary of Duties
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and relevant transportation and safety regulations.
- Oversee, train, and manage a team of 34 shipping drivers.
- Coordinate and supervise delivery logistics for private and public library events.
- Ensure all library fleet vehicles receive regular preventative maintenance (e.g., oil changes, tires, filters).
- Respond to vehicle incidents, complete accident documentation, assist drivers with wellness checks and drug testing procedures as required.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with city agencies when acquiring or replacing library fleet vehicles, and keep up to date inventory of all vehicles.
- Promote and enforce all safety procedures with the goal of maintaining a zero-injury work environment.
- Communicate operational updates, safety issues, and process concerns to management in a timely manner.
- Attend and participate in required meetings and training sessions.
- Collaborate with other departments to improve efficiency in shipping, deliveries, and logistics support.
- Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of downtown region parking lots used by vendors, administrators, and special guests.
- Supervise the disposal and recycling of property assets from all Enoch Pratt Library locations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate.
- Three (3) years of experience in supervision or fleet management.
- Valid Maryland driver's license with a good driving record, and a Baltimore City Driver's License within 1 year.
- 2 years of customer service experience.
- Physical Requirements : Physical exertion such as standing; or recurring activities such as bending, crouching, reaching; pushing loaded book trucks; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as boxes of books or journals.
Preferred Qualifications
- CDL driver's license is desired.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience with mailroom operations, tracking systems, inventory systems, or shipping procedures.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven experience in logistics, fleet management, or transportation supervision.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and shipping operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle emergency situations with professionalism and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with mailroom operations and tracking systems.
- Possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Excellent customer service in a welcoming and polished manner.
