Base pay $17.00/hr – $25.00/hr. Current salary $17.48.

Position Summary: The Library Customer Adviser provides direct customer service to Library customers, including circulation of materials, reference services, technology training/assistance, and directional assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Circulate materials, check in/out, process holds, register customers, collect fees.
  • Assist customers with various technologies.
  • Shelve returned materials, search requested items.
  • Provide readers’ advisory and reference services.
  • Participate in location’s shared responsibilities (desk set up, bookdrop, delivery, ILS reports, supply orders).
  • Maintain collection (weeding, reading shelves).
  • Assist with programs, displays, meeting room approvals.
  • Refer customer issues/complaints to managers.
  • Prepare and deposit money from fees.
  • Serve as person‑in‑charge in absence of leadership.
  • Interpret Library policies and procedures to the public in a customer‑friendly manner.
  • Support and advance Library mission.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Customer service skill.
  • Arrange materials alphabetically and numerically.
  • Work independently and with coworkers with minimal supervision.
  • Use all applicable technology.
  • Lift up to 50 lb, carry short distances; push carts up to 150 lb.
  • Work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.

Hours

20 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.
