Multimedia Specialist II

Join as a highly skilled audio‑visual technician to support classroom and event AV technology.

The Opportunity

Role responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing complex AV issues, maintaining service tickets, supervising federal work study students, training end users, and collaborating with the OIR project team.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair complex AV issues using specialized tools and applications such as DHCP Manager, Avia DSP Tool, and NetScout.
  • Ensure prompt updates and closure of service tickets, assist with classroom checks as needed.
  • Submit and track requests for hardware and equipment replacements.
  • Supervise Federal Work Study (FWS) students, including training, assigning work, scheduling, time tracking, and monitoring award usage.
  • Track FWS timesheets and assist with supervision of OPS staff, including time tracking and verifying timesheets as required.
  • Conduct large‑scale or one‑on‑one faculty training sessions on AV equipment and systems.
  • Train Classroom Support team members on new procedures, techniques, and troubleshooting methods.
  • Test newly released classroom AV equipment to ensure functionality and performance.
  • Collaborate with end users to identify solutions for classroom AV projects, updates, and improvements.
  • Provide support to the OIR project team when the Multimedia Specialist III is absent.
  • Perform post‑installation inspections, train end users on new equipment, and obtain project sign‑off to confirm customer satisfaction.
  • Follow UCF IT and OIR Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for ticket tracking, reporting functions, administrative tasks, telecommuting, outage communications, and customer interactions.
  • Deliver a high level of service by meeting service level agreements (SLAs) and contributing to departmental Objectives & Key Results (OKRs).
  • Provide cross‑team support, including training others in troubleshooting, repair, and operation of AV equipment; assisting with inventory and spare equipment management; supporting vehicle maintenance; providing technical support for high‑profile UCF events.
  • Assist the OIR Engineering sub‑team with AV equipment installations as needed.
  • Attend seminars, training sessions, and conferences related to current or emerging technology.
  • Maintain existing certifications and pursue new certifications based on job needs.
  • Record all completed training in the university tracking system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, which may include serving in a temporary supervisory role for a departmental subunit.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience, or high school diploma (or equivalent) and 6 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience setting up, using, and troubleshooting AV equipment such as microphones, DSP's, speakers, projectors, PTZ video cameras, and home/commercial AV automation and control.
  • Experience in supervisory roles, including onboarding, training, time tracking, and scheduling.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CTS, Crestron, Extron, CompTIA, Avixa).
  • Ability to provide technical support for large‑scale events and high‑profile projects.
  • Experience supporting classroom or instructional AV technology in higher education.
  • Experience supervising student employees (e.g., Federal Work Study) or OPS staff, including time tracking and scheduling.
  • Advanced knowledge of AV systems, tools, and applications such as DHCP Manager, Avia DSP Tool, and NetScout.
  • Familiarity with UCF IT or higher education IT support procedures and standards.
  • Strong documentation skills and experience maintaining technical and procedural records.

Work Schedule and Compensation

Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 4:00 pm. Salary range: $48,722 – $52,992 per year.

Additional Information

Valid Class E driver’s license required. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus.
