Overview

Antelope Valley College invites applications for our adjunct (Temporary, part‑time) faculty applicant pool for the following Music Adjunct Instructor position. The role involves teaching and performance instruction in music theory, appreciation, songwriting, music industry, and related courses as needed by the department.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct students in the assigned discipline.
  • Deliver courses during the day, evening, online courses, or off‑campus sites as assigned.
  • Provide performance instruction and/or classroom teaching (including but not limited to theory, appreciation, songwriting, music industry, and other courses depending on departmental need).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Applicant must meet one of the following:
    • Master's in music OR Bachelor's in music AND Master's in humanities OR the equivalent.
    • No Antelope Valley College equivalency.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students (Assembly Bill 1725; Education Code 87360).

  • Scanned copy of official transcripts with required degree(s). Foreign transcripts and degrees require official certification of equivalency to U.S. transcripts and degrees by a certified U.S. review service at the time of application.
  • Two (2) current letters of professional reference signed and dated within the last year.

  • Each recruitment is conducted independently from others; therefore, interested parties need to submit separate complete application packages for each position applied for.
  • Applicants may be subject to passing an examination (written/technical) as appropriate to the requirements of the position.
  • Residency within a reasonable geographical area of the college may be necessary.
  • Travel expenses for pre‑employment interviews and employment processing will not be authorized.
