Instrumental Music Teacher (Elementary or Secondary)

Location: TBD
Reports To: Building Principal
Work Schedule/FLSA Status: Negotiated agreement / Exempt
Salary Schedule: 2025/26 Step 1 – $51,200 (Bachelor’s) or $57,820 (Master’s)

Position Purpose

Plans for, teaches, and facilitates learning for all students. Creates a positive learning environment, maintains academic progress, records, and discipline, and works collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and guide students’ cognitive capacity and respect for learning.
  • Foster students’ self‑esteem and support diverse student populations.
  • Integrate leadership, technology, and communication into the curriculum.
  • Plan for and guide the learning process to help students achieve program objectives.
  • Maintain a conducive learning atmosphere and use effective instructional methods and materials.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with parents, guardians, and staff.
  • Engage in professional growth activities and collaborate to achieve the school’s program and district vision.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited institution (Master’s preferred).
  • Valid NE teaching certificate or ability to obtain one with Music endorsement.
  • Demonstrated philosophy that all students can and will learn.
  • Excellent attendance and oral/written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of best instructional practices and positive interpersonal skills.
  • Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and student‑teaching experience.
  • Compliance with ethical and professional standards established by the State Board of Education.
  • Willingness to pursue continuous quest for quality education.

Additional Duties

Other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and central office administrators. May require use of SMART boards, iPads, and basic office equipment.

Terms of Employment

Full‑time exempt certified position governed by state laws, Board of Education policies, collective bargaining agreement, and Teacher Contract. Terms are contingent upon license verification, background check, U.S. citizenship or legal authorization, tuberculosis skin test (if required), and execution of the Teacher Contract.
