Role Overview

You will lead the user experience and interface design for secure applications, ensuring usability, accessibility, aesthetics, and compliance with high security / BQA / NATO constraints. You will partner with product, security, engineering, and compliance teams to deliver designs that meet strict standards without compromise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the full UI/UX design cycle: research, user journeys, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and delivery
  • Translate security, compliance, accessibility, and usability requirements into design solutions
  • Design with a security mindset (least privilege, visibility, error states, alerts)
  • Produce high‑fidelity prototypes and design assets consistent with brand, accessibility, and security guidelines
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, security, and QA to ensure designs are implemented faithfully
  • Conduct usability testing, feedback cycles, iteration, and validation
  • Maintain design system, component library, and UX guidelines under strict standards
  • Document design rationale, constraints, and trade‑offs
  • Present designs and decisions to stakeholders, auditors, and clients

Mandatory Requirements

  • Domain / High‑Security Experience
    • Minimum 5+ years of UI/UX design experience in regulated, security, defense, or government environments
    • Prior work on design projects for NATO / defense / BQA / classified or highly constrained domains
  • Design & Research Mastery
    • Strong experience in user research, persona building, journey maps, wireframing, prototyping (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, etc.)
    • Deep ability to design responsive, accessible, user‑friendly interfaces under complex constraints
  • Security & Compliance Aware Design
    • Experience designing UIs under strict security requirements (e.g. alerting, permissions, audit, logs)
    • Ability to embed security cues, error states, warnings, and validation securely and clearly
  • Interaction & Visual Design Skills
    • Excellent visual design skills: typography, layout, color theory, iconography, UI components
    • Fluent in design systems and component reuse, modular UI, responsive & adaptive design
  • Collaboration & Implementation Sensibility
    • Experience collaborating with front‑end engineers; ability to deliver assets, specs, redlines, handoffs
    • Understanding of front‑end constraints (HTML/CSS, responsive behavior, performance)
  • Usability & Testing
    • Experience conducting usability tests, gathering metrics, iterating based on feedback
    • Ability to analyze user behavior, feedback loops, A/B testing
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Strong written and verbal English
    • Ability to articulate design decisions, trade‑offs, security concerns to non‑design stakeholders
  • Process & Documentation Discipline
    • Comfortable in environments with audits, version control, approval workflows, documentation standards
    • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Logistics & Eligibility
    • Based in Europe (or legally contractible)
    • Willing and able to undergo background checks, security clearance if required

Preferred (Not Mandatory)

  • Direct UI/UX experience on NATO / BQA / defense contracts
  • Experience designing for real‑time, mission‑critical systems or dashboards
  • Knowledge of domain‑specific UI constraints (e.g. geo‑data, mapping, situational awareness)
  • Experience with animation, micro‑interactions, or advanced prototyping
  • Usability / UX certifications or formal UX education
