Position Overview
The Marketing Manager serves as MCEC’s strategic marketing coordinator and external agency liaison, driving brand awareness and stakeholder engagement while supporting the organization’s transformation to effectively serve the 69% of military children ages 12 and under. This role combines strategic oversight with vendor management to advance MCEC’s marketing initiatives through partnership with external marketing professionals and internal coordination.
Working closely with the CEO and external marketing partners, the Marketing Manager ensures cohesive implementation of marketing strategies that tell MCEC’s story effectively while building sustainable audience growth and supporting revenue diversification goals. This position requires strong project management skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to coordinate complex initiatives across internal teams and external vendors.
Success in this role directly contributes to MCEC’s brand recognition, stakeholder engagement, and the marketing foundation needed to demonstrate measurable impact to funders and families while supporting sustainable organizational growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Marketing Coordination & Agency Management
Serve as primary liaison with external marketing firm, coordinating brand refresh initiatives, social media strategy implementation, and website development projects
Collaborate with CEO and external partners to develop comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with organizational strategic priorities and evidence-based programming goals
Coordinate marketing efforts across all client populations, ensuring messaging effectively reaches military families with children across all age groups, particularly K-8 demographics
Manage marketing vendor relationships and contracts, ensuring deliverable quality, timeline adherence, and budget compliance while maintaining strategic alignment
Lead internal marketing strategy development that complements external firm capabilities, focusing on organizational expertise and program-specific marketing needs
Program Marketing & Client Engagement
Develop and implement marketing strategies that effectively promote evidence-based programming for military children across all age groups, with particular emphasis on student-focused initiatives
Coordinate with program teams to create compelling content and campaigns that demonstrate program impact and effectiveness to current and potential participants across student, parent, and professional audiences

Lead marketing efforts for Student 2 Student, parent support programs, and professional development initiatives, ensuring consistent messaging and brand alignment
Support program evaluation and outcome demonstration through marketing materials that clearly communicate program effectiveness and measurable impact
Collaborate with program staff to develop testimonials, case studies, and impact stories that strengthen both marketing efforts and funding proposals
Stakeholder Communication & Brand Management
Maintain brand consistency across all organizational communications, ensuring alignment with external marketing firm recommendations and strategic messaging guidelines
Coordinate internal communications strategy including staff newsletters, board communications, and stakeholder updates that support organizational transparency and engagement
Manage crisis communication coordination and brand reputation monitoring in partnership with external marketing firm and organizational leadership
Oversee content review and approval processes to ensure all organizational communications meet quality standards and strategic objectives
Lead coordination of marketing materials for events, conferences, and speaking opportunities that position MCEC as thought leader in military child education
Data-Driven Marketing & Performance Analysis
Implement comprehensive tracking and analytics systems in coordination with external marketing firm to measure marketing performance and audience engagement
Develop and monitor key performance indicators aligned with organizational strategic priorities, including brand awareness, stakeholder engagement, and lead generation metrics
Conduct regular performance analysis and reporting to CEO and leadership team with actionable insights and optimization recommendations
Support revenue diversification goals through marketing analytics that demonstrate stakeholder engagement and organizational reach to potential funders
Lead data collection and analysis that supports evidence-based marketing decisions and continuous improvement in outreach effectiveness
Internal Coordination & Cross-Functional Support
Coordinate marketing initiatives across all organizational departments, ensuring integrated approach to stakeholder communication and brand management
Support advancement team with marketing materials and strategies that enhance fundraising effectiveness and donor engagement
Collaborate with program teams to ensure marketing accurately represents program offerings and effectively communicates value proposition to target audiences
Lead internal marketing capacity building, providing guidance and support to staff on brand standards, messaging consistency, and marketing best practices
Manage marketing technology coordination including CRM integration, email marketing platforms, and analytics tools in partnership with operations team
Position Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, digital media, or related field from accredited institution
Minimum 5 years of marketing experience with demonstrated success in vendor management, campaign coordination, and performance analytics
Proven expertise in project management with experience coordinating complex initiatives across multiple stakeholders and external vendors
Strong analytical skills with experience using marketing analytics tools, CRM systems, and performance measurement platforms
Excellent communication and relationship management skills with ability to coordinate effectively between internal teams and external partners
Experience with marketing strategy development and implementation in organizational or nonprofit settings
Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, vendor relationships, and multi-channel marketing initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in nonprofit marketing with understanding of mission-driven communication and stakeholder engagement strategies
Background in education, military family support, or youth development sectors providing context for organizational mission and client needs
Experience working with external marketing agencies or consulting firms, including vendor management and project coordination
Knowledge of evidence-based marketing practices and data-driven decision making in organizational settings
Professional certifications in marketing, project management, or related areas demonstrating commitment to professional development
Experience with marketing technology platforms and integration with organizational systems
