Description The Mechanical Designer will demonstrate utilization of the PTC suite of design and PLM programs (Creo and Windchill) to design and layout mechanical and electrical systems. The designer ensures proper form, fit and function while improving product performance, reliability, safety, manufacturability, and cost effectiveness.
Core Responsibilities
Leads and assists engineering in new product development design solutions as part of the phase-gate process
Develop and design mechanical components and assemblies using Creo
Creates and manages PLM Process via Bill of Material (BOM) creation and maintenance in PTC-Windchill
Work from oral or written engineering instructions, procedures, schematics, drawings, and sketches
Develops and designs mechanical parts and assemblies, as well as 3D harness routing using Creo Schematic and Pro/CABLE
Creation of 2D harness drawings
Creo modeling, managing assemblies, BOM Windchill, drawing changes, simple to clean sheet designs
Designing brackets, harness/cable design/routing, copper tubing/routing, drawing packages
Develop, communicate, and present design concepts
Understanding of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis and tolerance analysis
Prepare engineering documentation, bills of material and change notices
Provide design support for current production products
Interact with vendors, service personnel, and outside engineering resources
Qualifications
Technical Associates Engineering Degree preferred
5+ years of relevant work experience required
Proficient in Creo
Knowledge of mechanical design and assembly management, material selection, and BOM creation/maintenance
Strong written and verbal skills with ability to follow written instructions
Advanced utilization of PTC PLM system (Windchill)
Knowledge of wire harness design & routing
Must be customer driven and quality minded in performing all assigned duties
Must be able to function in a technical engineering team environment
Must have the ability to handle multiple, varied tasks simultaneously
Must be able to adjust to changing demands, priorities and objectives
Experience Level Intermediate Level
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
