Business Intelligence Engineer, Reputation Marketing & Insights
Amazon.com Services LLC, Arlington, Virginia, United States, 22201
The Reputational Marketing & Insights (RMI) team at Amazon is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to join our global research program focused on tracking and understanding brand perception through survey-based insights. Our team plays a critical role in informing Amazon’s strategic communications. We do this through recurring global perception tracking, ad hoc research, and tailored reporting for senior stakeholders across the company.
As a BIE on our team, you will drive the data engineering and reporting workstreams that bring our research to life. You will be responsible for producing high-impact visuals and deliverables that communicate insights clearly and effectively, maintaining data pipelines, and developing intuitive dashboards. This is a unique opportunity to apply your technical and analytical skills in a research-rich environment that directly shapes how Amazon communicates its story to the world. The work will challenge you to be resourceful, think big while staying connected to the details, and embrace a high degree of change and ambiguity at speed. The scope and scale of what we strive to achieve is immense, making our work both meaningful and energizing.
The ideal candidate possesses endless curiosity and is skilled at translating complex or ambiguous problem statements into analytic requirements. The candidate must be able to extract, manipulate, and summarize large data sets using business intelligence and reporting tools. We are seeking a candidate who will continuously learn new systems, tools, and industry best practices to help design new tools that help our team automate and accelerate analytics.
Key job responsibilities
Design and maintain automated reporting, dashboards, and analyses to enable our team to increasingly self-serve data needs
Produce clear and compelling ad hoc charts and visual narratives tailored to specific business questions or communication needs
Own the data pipeline and automation processes supporting Amazon’s global brand perception tracking program
Look around corners to identify and execute on future-facing, data-related strategic opportunities
Identify opportunities to simplify existing research processes and operate more nimbly
Collaborate closely with researchers, data scientists, and communication leads to translate insights into action
Partner with cross-functional teams to evolve our tech stack and BI infrastructure in line with growing program needs
Scale learnings and insights to other teams in CCR and the broader Amazon marketing and communications community
About the team This team sits within the Communications and Corporate Responsibility (CCR) organization. Our focus is on conducting research that identifies messaging opportunities and informs communication strategies for Amazon as a brand.
Basic qualifications
Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other technical degree

Knowledge of a scripting language (Python, R, etc.)
Experience conducting sophisticated and creative analysis of complex data and translate the results into actionable deliverables, messages, and presentations
Experience completing complex tasks quickly with little to no guidance and react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround, or experience prioritizing and handling multiple assignments at any given time while maintaining commitment to deadlines
Experience communicating to senior management and customers verbally and in writing
Experience with statistical techniques used for survey design and analytics (e.g., Chi-square, regression)
Proven ability to work in an interdependent team and develop processes at scale
