The Coordinator, Library Operations, oversees nightly operations at the service desk providing excellent customer service to the students, faculty and community, performing specialized in the library software, ExLibris' Alma, and coordinating activities, events, and services during the library's evening and late-night hours of operation. The Coordinator oversees services provided at the library's access services desk, checking out books, scheduling study rooms and providing basic reference services. This person will maintain the library stacks and oversee re-shelving of library materials correctly in many different shelving locations. The person in this position responds to emergencies, resolves problems, reports issues, and directs staff and users on the proper use of library facilities.

The Coordinator will work Mondays through Thursdays 1 p.m. to 12 a.m. during the first half of the fall and spring semesters and shift to 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. before midterms; and summer hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Coordinator reports to the Manager, Library Operations, Access Services.

Responsibilities

Oversees the nightly operation of the library during evening and late-night hours. Assists staff and student assistants completing their work assignments and projects. Assists library users at the central library service desk by answering general inquiries and helping locate and check out library materials such as course reserves books, headphones and laptops. Assists researchers finding preliminary, suitable information resources. Helps library users reserve study rooms. Checks in returned items. Refers evening and late-night library users to research and instruction, student technology center, Innovative Education (InEd) or other services by providing contact information and hours of service. Provides general information about university services. Monitors library entrance and activity on all floors, making sure library users are observing library guidelines and observing quiet study zones. Oversees stacks maintenance. Responds to patron concerns and deescalates patron issues following established library and university policies and procedures and follows up by reporting the incidents to the Manager, Coordinator of building operations, and Campus Dean. Follows proper library closing procedures and makes sure all people have exited the library each evening or late night and secures all doors at closing. Maintains technical proficiency in library and university software.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field with two years of work experience in a library. Appropriate college coursework may substitute for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Library Experience. Experience with Integrated Library Systems (ILS) - Alma fulfillment preferred. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and problem solve. Knowledge of the library of Congress Classification and Dewey Decimal System.
