General Summary
The award-winning Las Vegas-Clark County Library District is hiring a Library Aide II Assistant for the Spring Valley Library. Under general supervision, the Library Aide II supports general library operations by lending and collecting materials, registering new patrons, issuing library cards, sorting and reshelving items, answering routine customer questions, and teaching patrons how to use library resources. Description of Hours and Wages
Pay range: $20.95 to $28.07 per hour. The position is full‑time (40 hours per week) and FLSA non‑exempt. Pay typically starts at the minimum of the range, with eligibility for annual merit and COLA increases per District policy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sort and reshelve returned books, periodicals, and other materials.
- Operate library efficiencies.
- Teach customers how to use library resources.
- Perform routine clerical tasks such as answering phones, organizing files, and handling register.
- Assist customers in selecting and locating library collections using Library of Congress Classifications.
- Participate in library programs.
- Answer frequent questions from internal and external customers regarding branch layout, procedures, and collections.
- Assist with checkout and check‑in using the Integrated Library System (ILS).
Register new patrons and issue library cards. - Handle interlibrary loans.
- Help plan and provide input in programs and outreach.
- Provide collection development suggestions for weeding and participate in collection orders under supervision.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

EDUCATION
Required: High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED). Preferred: None.
EXPERIENCE
Required: Two (2) years as a Library Aide I or equivalent position. Preferred: None.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in an office setting with walking, standing, bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting moderate-weight objects (20–50 pounds). Frequent walking, standing, and lifting of moderate weight are required.

Monday to Thursday: 11:15 a.m. – 8:15 p.m. Friday: 9:15 a.m. – 6:15 p.m.
