Day Shift Visual Weld Inspector Job at Hammer Haag Steel Inc in Clearwater

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Visual Weld Inspector for our day shift. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that all welded structures meet Hammer Haag Steel's quality standards. The inspector will be responsible for performing visual inspections of welded assemblies, verifying compliance with project specifications, and maintaining alignment with the company's internal quality system.

This position provides the opportunity to work alongside and learn from our Certified Welding Inspector (CWI). A defined growth path is available for qualified candidates interested in obtaining their own CWI certification, which the company will sponsor as part of career development within the Quality Control department.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Perform visual inspection of welds on structural and miscellaneous steel.
• Verify weld sizes, quality, and overall appearance according to job requirements.
• Read and interpret fabrication drawings, weld symbols, and shop sketches.
• Complete inspection reports and maintain accurate, detailed records.
• Collaborate with welders, fitters, and supervisors to communicate findings and ensure timely corrections.
• Ensure compliance with internal quality standards and customer specifications.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.

• High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or vocational training preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in visual weld inspection within a fabrication or structural steel environment.
• Strong familiarity with AWS welding codes.
• Proficient in reading weld symbols, fabrication drawings, and inspection procedures.
• Interest in professional growth and potential pursuit of CWI certification with company support.
• Strong attention to detail, documentation, and communication skills.
