We are a tenured or tenure‑track position at the Department of Comparative Literature at Stanford University, seeking a faculty member to teach and lead research in Persian literature and culture.

Responsibilities The successful candidate will teach and advise students at the graduate and undergraduate levels, maintaining a world‑class research program in Persian literature and culture, and contribute to Stanford's Hamid and Christina Moghadam Program in Iranian Studies.
Candidate will maintain a deep understanding of the Persian literary tradition and its relevance within interdisciplinary and comparative frameworks.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in a related field (Persian literature, Iranian Studies, Comparative Literature, or similar) by the time of appointment.
Native or near‑native proficiency in both Persian and English.
Demonstrated commitment to effective teaching and mentoring.
A portfolio of research, publications, and research program that is of world‑class caliber.
Application Instructions Applicants should submit through Stanford Faculty Positions: a cover letter, curriculum vitae (with complete publication list), a combined research and teaching statement (no more than three single‑spaced pages), and two writing samples (up to ~8,000 words each) in English.

Salary For the academic year 2025–2026 the pay ranges are:
Assistant Professor: $111,240 – $130,810
Associate Professor: $124,630 – $154,500
Professor: $144,200 – $247,200
