Position Summary The Director of Public Relations will lead all external communication, media relations, and community engagement efforts for our McDonald’s franchise organization. This individual will develop and execute strategic PR plans that elevate our brand, support business goals, manage our public image, and foster strong relationships with media, local stakeholders, and the community.

Key Responsibilities Public Relations & Media

Serve as the primary spokesperson and media contact for the franchise organization.

Develop and execute proactive and reactive media strategies.

Draft press releases, media statements, and key messages aligned with the McDonald’s brand.

Monitor news coverage and industry trends; manage media inquiries and crisis communications.

Community Engagement

Lead community outreach programs, sponsorships, and partnerships with local nonprofits, schools, and civic organizations.

Plan, execute, and host local events (e.g., grand openings, fundraisers, community appreciation days).

Oversee donations and local giving strategy to align with corporate social responsibility goals.

Brand Management

Ensure local marketing and communication efforts are aligned with McDonald’s corporate brand standards and messaging.

Collaborate with corporate and regional McDonald’s PR teams as needed.

Support local store marketing efforts through storytelling, social media, and PR support.

Crisis & Issues Management

Anticipate and manage potential risks to brand reputation.

Develop crisis communication plans and provide leadership during incident response situations.

Digital & Social Media

Oversee franchise-level social media presence; create engaging content and manage community interaction.

Produce relative and creative content across social media platforms.

Monitor online reputation and respond to reviews or feedback in alignment with brand voice.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or related field.

3+ years of experience in public relations, preferably in a consumer-facing or franchise environment.

Strong knowledge of media relations, social media strategy, and community engagement.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and lead a team if applicable.

Experience managing crisis communication and working in fast-paced environments.

Deep understanding of brand management and aligning local execution with corporate brand standards.

Proficiency in graphic design tools like Canva for designing marketing materials and social media content.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) or hospitality industry.

Existing relationships with local media or community organizations.

Bilingual skills (e.g., English/Spanish) a plus.

Requirements

Ability to work some nights and weekends as needed.

Must be available for occasional out-of-town and out-of-state travel.
