About Us The Indigenous Centre for Cumulative Effects (ICCE) is an Indigenous‑led and exclusively Indigenous‑serving organization that supports Indigenous communities in addressing cumulative effects through a Two‑Eyed Seeing approach. Our primary objective is to build and enhance the technical and scientific capacity of Indigenous communities across Canada, based on the values of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities. As a resource, we provide funding for community‑led projects, share knowledge, and link Indigenous communities together, working towards intergenerational decision‑making and partnership building.

Summary Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, the Advisor creates compelling communications materials and supports logistics for webcasts, conferences, and community events. This role ensures all messaging aligns with organizational values and Indigenous perspectives. The Advisor translates technical Cumulative Effects research and monitoring content into accessible stories, briefs, infographics, and toolkits for communities, leaders, and policymakers. The role also involves capturing stories and learning from projects, events, and interviews, then publishing this content across web and social media channels.

Key Responsibilities

Draft and schedule content for social media, website, newsletters, and print materials, ensuring all branding adheres to high standards and is culturally appropriate.

Develop digital stories by working with community partners to capture project‑based successes that drive intergenerational knowledge sharing and value‑driven content.

Translate cumulative effects science (water/fish/sediment, land‑use, health) into plain‑language summaries, policy briefs, factsheets, and slide decks for diverse audiences.

Co‑develop content with communities, integrating Indigenous Knowledge respectfully with permissions and proper attribution, and ensuring cultural protocols are incorporated into all events and communications.

Plan, film, and edit short videos and record podcasts or testimonial clips, following consent protocols and ensuring all community approvals and privacy requirements are met for media use.

Manage website CMS pages for projects, news, and resource library, coordinating with program staff on timelines for reports and web updates.

Assist with planning and executing in‑person and virtual events, including venue booking, registration, travel coordination, catering, on‑site support, virtual session setup, webcast hosting, technical troubleshooting, and post‑event follow‑up.

Support public relations activities including responding to inquiries and social media comments, escalating issues to the Manager as needed.

Edit and maintain organizational style guide while ensuring accessibility standards (readability, AODA‑aligned PDFs, captions, alt text).

Maintain photo/video archives and media contact lists.

Provide administrative support, including processing invoices, vendor communication and project analytics.

Qualifications

2+ years’ experience in marketing, communications, or event planning.

Graphic design, video editing, audio basics, CMS and website management experience.

Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills.

Plain‑language writing, research synthesis, cultural sensitivity adherence.

Familiarity with Indigenous communities and protocols is required.

The ability to travel to attend conferences, in‑person staff meetings, and community events is required for this position.

Salary $73,000 – $85,000
