Communication Studies (Speech Communication) Adjunct Instructor Applicant Pool We are accepting applications for the adjunct instructor pool in Communication Studies (Speech Communication). Adjunct positions are opened on a fiscal‑year basis and are continuously recruited for department assignments. All required documents must be submitted; incomplete packets will not be considered.

Teaching

Create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that values instructor‑student interaction.

Effectively engage students of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences.

Adapt teaching pedagogy to individual student needs and class dynamics; self‑reflect and respond to evidence‑based assessment of student learning.

Integrate new technologies into the learning process, including interactive technologies for on‑campus and online courses.

Communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Service

Assume leadership roles within the department and at the institutional level, collaborating across disciplines and utilizing student support resources.

Participate in curriculum and program development.

Work collegially and collaboratively within the college community.

Engage in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications and Minimum Requirements

Possession of an unexpired California Community College Instructor Credential in Communications.

OR

Master’s degree in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication, or organizational communication.

OR

Bachelor’s degree in any of the above fields, combined with a master’s degree in drama/theater arts, mass communication, or English.

OR

Equivalency: Official transcript documenting completion of a Master’s degree from an accredited institution, plus official transcripts documenting completion of 24 semester units in the discipline at the upper‑division graduate level (minimum 12 graduate‑level semester units).

Professional experience, including teaching experience; teaching and occupational experience may be combined.

Teaching demonstration may be required at the interview stage.

Conditions of Employment Assignments may include Monday through Friday (day and evening) and Saturday classes. Adjunct salary rate:

$88.30

per hour.
