Social Media Intern (Unpaid Internship) Job at Iris in San Francisco

Iris is an AI-powered real estate marketplace built exclusively for San Francisco renters. Our platform lets users describe what they’re looking for and upload photos and get matched to real, verified listings. Iris is redefining how people discover apartments through personalization, transparency, and design.

Iris is embarking on an ambitious strategy to grow its brand presence and establish itself as the go-to destination for apartment hunting in San Francisco. The Social Media Intern will work directly with Iris Co-Founder Manan Shah, who has built a real estate audience of over 130,000 followers, to develop and execute creative content strategies that drive engagement and awareness.

The Social Media Intern will be involved in all aspects of the content creation process, from filming to storytelling. They will assist in developing high-performing real estate videos, writing scripts, and supporting the growth of Iris’s digital platforms. Over time, the intern will take on greater responsibilities managing Iris’s social media accounts and community engagement.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Recording apartment tours and lifestyle content across San Francisco.
• Drafting, editing, and writing engaging short-form video scripts.
• Assisting in planning and posting social media content for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
• Researching trends and brainstorming ideas to grow Iris’s online presence.
• Supporting campaign planning and basic video editing when needed.

Requirements:

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with short-form content creation (TikTok, Reels, or YouTube Shorts).
• Interest in real estate, design, or marketing.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Based in or near San Francisco, with the ability to film locally.
