Position Summary

As an integral part of the marketing team, the Marketing Content Developer helps create and implement Maine Seacoast Mission’s communications strategy primarily through visual storytelling. Visual media promotes the Maine Seacoast Mission’s brand, programs, and services, building awareness amongst target audiences.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

  • Bring to life the Mission brand, style, and messaging through visual storytelling
  • Create and publish multi-media and multi-platform content—especially, but not exclusively, photo and video—in alignment with Mission institutional identity and marketing goals
  • Produce, film, and edit over 100 videos annually for the Mission, its programs, and events
  • Produce and publish visual content in an engaging, innovative, creative, and appealing manner
  • Manage and maintain a production schedule in line with video and photography needs for each program based on program briefs and accompanying calendars
  • Help identify compelling initiatives and stories in the Mission’s work, then research and present them effectively
  • Plan and execute film shoots and interviews; single-handedly operate equipment while conducting interviews
  • Film on set and on location; set up and take down of cameras, tripods, microphones, lighting, drone, props, etc.
  • Maintain an organized archive of footage and photography, which includes still imagery, interviews, completed videos, and B-roll
  • Maintain the Mission’s media library
  • Stay familiar with the Mission’s staff, programs, and events
  • Complete trouble and preventive maintenance reports on video and audio production equipment; assist in or coordinate repair
  • Help coordinate and maintain effective working relationships with online and traditional media-related vendors for production, events, and advertising, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Design Responsibilities

  • Create visual content for use across all mediums including print, website, social media platforms, digital marketing, newsletters, events, etc.
  • Design printed visual collateral for programmatic intent, development strategy, and brand identity, such as flyers and advertisements

Web Management and Digital Marketing Responsibilities

  • Maintain website’s video and photo content
  • Plan, design, and edit video communications for the Mission’s social media channels and assist in executing the Mission’s social media strategy
  • Co-manage the Mission’s YouTube channel by posting videos with descriptions and appropriate details, maintaining playlists, managing premieres and livestreams, etc.
  • Assist with other digital marketing initiatives as needed including publications, events, advertising, etc.

As Part of Maine Seacoast Mission

  • Promote and embody the Mission as a welcoming and inclusive organization, where all people are valued and respected
  • Support the values and purpose of the Maine Seacoast Mission as expressed in the mission statement and other guiding documents
  • Uphold the reputation of the Mission and honor the trust built over generations between the Mission and the communities with which we work

Qualifications

Core Qualifications

  • Proven ability for professional level media capture and production including digital photography, videography, and basic graphic design
  • Able to interview a broad variety of people with sensitivity and grace
  • Experience leveraging media assets for storytelling and promotion
  • Ability to work quickly under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work on a team as well as initiate and complete independent projects
  • Knowledge of marketing channels and experience using digital and traditional channels
  • Creative and can think outside the box
  • Thorough and precise with good attention to detail
  • Good written and oral communication skills

Required Education and Experience

  • Two to three years’ experience in creating video and design for digital purposes and social media
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud software suite—especially Premier Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, and InDesign—to produce compelling media assets
  • Knowledge and mastery of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube amongst others

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in media, digital media arts, film production, or communications
  • Familiarity with the Maine media market
  • Familiarity with Washington County, island living, or other regions with isolated communities

Position Conditions and Requirements

The position is based in Northeast Harbor, Maine. Hybrid in-person and remote work is required, with site visits to document programming.

Work Environment

  • Available to work occasional evenings and weekends

Physical Demands

  • Sitting for prolonged periods of time at a computer or while driving
  • Ability to get on or off a boat in a variety of docking situations and be comfortable on board
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds and handle video equipment

Travel Requirements

  • Travel to islands and remote communities throughout the year
  • Transportation for travel to Mission locations and events

This is a full-time, exempt position based on a salary of $57,000 to $65,000 per year based on experience with excellent benefits.
