Grays Specialty Equipment segment offers a comprehensive range of expert services to design, manufacture, integrate, install, and maintain some of the most advanced systems on the market. The Specialty Equipment segment includes Anderson Dahlen, located in Ramsey, MN, and Waconia, MN. Anderson Dahlen delivers end-to-end equipment design-build and contract manufacturing, with precision fabrication cutting, forming, machining, welding, finishing, and complex assemblies backed by engineering, integration, and complete process solutions including skids and sanitary platforms tailored to customer applications. Anderson Dahlen is ISO 9001:2015 certified, as well as ASME, AWS, and PED compliant.

The wage range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; certifications; as well as other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $30 to $42 hourly.


PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:

Design equipment per customer requirements using SolidWorks, or other CAD software to develop 3D models, part detail drawings, indented bills of materials to meet both Anderson Dahlens and our customers design standards accurately and effectively. Assist the Project Managers in providing detailed manufacturing drawings, to ensure the on-time completion of customer projects consistent with customer expectations and Anderson Dahlen goals. Work together with team project engineer(s), welder(s), machinist(s) and fabricator(s) to ensure a smooth transition from Engineering to Production and minimize changes needed to manufacture the components and assemblies.


MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Provides detailed manufacturing drawings, models and complete information to Project Manager and other personnel relative to projects to ensure on-time and accurate job completion.
  • Ability to accurately create flat layouts by computer aided programs from customer supplied drawings, mainly SolidWorks.
  • Creates individual component drawings from assembly drawings as needed or required in aiding shop personnel in production of customer parts or assemblies.
  • Reviews customer drawings for missing or incorrect information required in producing the customers part through to completion.
  • Reviews drawings with Engineering approver(s) by adhering to Anderson Dahlen Drafting Standards.
  • Makes and records changes per the ECO process.
  • Participate in company internal SolidWorks User Group and Drafting Standards Team.
  • Works with supervisor Laser, Fabrication, and Machining and shop personnel to maintain/improve productivity through effective communication/coordination and movement of parts and material.
  • Maintains and portrays a high degree of professionalism both within and outside the organization, encouraging excellence through example. Keeps supervisor informed.
  • Complies with Company and Department policies and procedures as applicable.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and promotes a team approach throughout the Department.
  • Ensures that a favorable Company image is presented to customers, and that all customer relationships are based on honesty and integrity.
  • Performs related work as apparent or assigned.






QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY:

  • Associates degree in a relevant field such as Mechanical Design, Mechanical Drafting, or similar work experience.
  • 5+ years experience using 3D CAD software. SolidWorks preferred. Autodesk Inventor and Plant 3D a plus.
  • Familiarity with ASME Y14.100 Engineering Drawing Practices required.
  • Familiarity with GD&T a plus.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, especially with a Design-For-Manufacture priority is preferred.
  • Experience in high precision, custom metal fabrication a plus.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems a plus.
