Job Description: Grants & Proposal Writer

Location: Palm Beach Gardens, FL

Employment Type: Full-time

About Us

AMPERA is an innovative venture focused on the design and manufacturing of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) on a micro scale to deliver safe, clean, and reliable power for the future. Our mission is to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy through advanced nuclear technology that is scalable, efficient, and secure. As we expand, we are seeking a skilled writer to help communicate our vision and secure critical funding for our engineering and R&D initiatives.

Position Overview

We are looking for a Grants & Proposal Writer to join our R&D team. This role will focus on identifying funding opportunities, developing high-impact technical proposals, and coordinating submissions for federal, state, and private grants. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between technical engineering content and persuasive writing—translating complex nuclear and mechanical engineering concepts into clear, compelling narratives that align with funding requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and identify relevant grant, funding, and partnership opportunities aligned with AMPERA’s mission.
  • Develop and write comprehensive proposals, white papers, and Statements of Work (SOWs) for government and commercial solicitations.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers, scientists, and leadership to gather technical data, cost estimates, and project details.
  • Ensure proposals meet all compliance, formatting, and submission requirements for agencies such as DOE, ARPA‑E, DoD, and NSF.
  • Create and maintain a centralized proposal library, including templates, boilerplates, and institutional data.
  • Assist with post‑award documentation, reporting, and progress summaries for active grants.
  • Track proposal status, deadlines, and outcomes to support internal forecasting and business development goals.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nuclear or Mechanical Engineering, Technical Communication, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in grant or proposal writing within the energy, technology, or defense sectors.
  • Strong understanding of technical writing, project budgeting, and compliance documentation.
  • Proficiency with common submission platforms such as Grants.gov and SAM.gov.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical information and convey it clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management.
  • Experience with nuclear, clean energy, or advanced manufacturing proposals is a plus.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to contribute to the advancement of clean and sovereign energy technologies.
  • Collaborative work environment alongside engineers and scientists shaping the future of energy.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits including healthcare and 401(k).
  • Professional growth within a pioneering nuclear technology company headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.
