Join to apply for the Audio Engineer (Senior/Principal) role at Bonfire Studios.

At Bonfire, we’re creating our first original IP, Arkheron, a fast‑paced competitive PVP game set in a surreal dark fantasy world. With 15 teams battling to ascend the tower each day, we’re building an experience that blends dynamic teamwork, competitive progression, and rich storytelling.

Responsibilities

  • Profile, debug, and performance‑tune audio features across platforms.
  • Collaborate with our heavily customized Unity engine team and integrate audio middleware beyond stock Unity or Wwise workflows.
  • Design runtime audio systems that respond to gameplay and world logic.
  • Deeply integrate Wwise into our engine and pipelines, ensuring seamless authoring and dynamic mixing.
  • Build tools and scripting solutions to help sound designers iterate quickly and efficiently.
  • Partner with engineers and content teams to align audio with system architecture.
  • Drive performance improvements and dynamic mix systems to deliver great results across platforms.

Qualifications

  • Strong engineering fundamentals with fluency in C#, C++, and scripting languages such as Python or Lua.
  • Hands‑on experience with Wwise, including integrations, authoring workflows, and dynamic mixing systems (desirable).
  • Experience working on audio systems in games or interactive applications, especially in live‑service or iterative development environments (helpful but not required).
  • Thrives in cross‑disciplinary environments, supporting content creators with tools and systems that unlock creativity.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and collaboratively with creative partners.
  • Systems thinker; can architect scalable, modular solutions for runtime audio behavior.
  • Passion for solving complex, sometimes ambiguous problems with technical rigor and creative empathy.

Potential Fit Concerns

  • Prefer a highly technical, low‑interaction role with minimal collaboration with creative partners.
  • Uninterested in audio or in the intersection of art and technology.
  • Would rather stick to standard Unity or Wwise workflows, rather than deeply customized systems.
  • Find ambiguity and iteration frustrating rather than energizing in cross‑disciplinary collaboration.
