Job Description

The AV Service Technician at Mesa Electronics will perform field service from diagnosis to repair, focusing on Crestron, Extron, Bi‑Amp, and QSC. The technician will also perform various installation tasks for contracted audiovisual (AV) projects, including pulling and terminating cables, installing system equipment and components, fabricating and wiring AV racks, and performing metal fabrication.

Additionally, the AV Technician will support the project team by reviewing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and assisting in selecting the Bill of Materials (BOM) during the RFP process. This role involves travel to job sites and may require working in construction environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform service tasks for audiovisual projects, including diagnostics, customer interaction, troubleshooting, and ensuring issues are resolved and closed.
  • Perform installation tasks for audiovisual projects, including cable pulling, connector installation, mounting, and executing metal fabrication as required.
  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and blueprints to facilitate precise installation and integration of AV systems.
  • Utilize hand and power tools to solder, crimp connectors, and perform other AV system installation tasks.
  • Assist in basic mechanical fabrication and rack wiring to support project completion.
  • Travel to various job sites as necessary for installations and project support.
  • Execute other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Assist engineers and programmers with minor programming changes and troubleshooting.
  • Review RFPs and support the project team in BOM selection and the overall RFP process.
  • Conduct client training on installed systems.

Key Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience installing and integrating AV equipment from industry‑standard manufacturers such as Crestron, QSC, Bi‑Amp, and Extron.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in communication with employees, customers, and colleagues to ensure project success.
  • Ability to safely and efficiently use hand and power tools during installation.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently, think critically, meet deadlines, and maintain high‑quality standards.
  • Computer knowledge for project documentation and related tasks.
  • Knowledge of complex wiring configurations and signal flow for audio, video, control, and network systems.
  • Experience reviewing RFPs and assisting with BOM selection.
  • Familiarity with industry installation safety code and standards.
  • Minor control system programming and troubleshooting skills.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in audiovisual, electronics, or a related industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of industry‑specific software or systems related to audiovisual installations.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings or schematics.
  • Experience installing video wall configurations (LCD, LED, projection).
  • Proven expertise in PTZ camera installation and integration.
  • Familiarity with various audio and video signal types.
  • Technical certification or relevant coursework.
  • Skill in setting up video teleconferencing systems across platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or Cisco Webex.
