OVERVIEW AND ROLE SCOPE OF TEAM AND/OR TASKS
The Content Creator manages the creation and distribution of social media content across CMU’s channels like Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube and emerging platforms.
The content creator leads a team of campus contributors across multiple departments who share a goal of storytelling and advancing the mission of CMU through creativity and social media management. The role supports CMU’s mission by creating meaningful, powerful content that brings CMU’s brand to life!
ROLES
Social Media
- Assemble and lead a team of campus-wide content contributors from multiple departments
- Hire and lead a team of students who create social media content
- Manage CMU’s social media accounts, channels and distributions platforms
- Ensure CMU’s content speaks to audiences in a way that supports student enrollment and CMU brand awareness and affinity.
- Identify, propose and implement new social media opportunities, including influencer marketing strategy, staying current with the latest industry trends, identifying and applying new media technology and best practices.
- Master and manage CMU’s social media content calendar with an eye for strategic and timely communications.
- Report social media analytics and work with the Director of Digital Strategy using data to guide content creation.
- Collaborate with advertising agency and marketing director to develop cohesion between organic and paid marketing campaigns.
Creative Content
- Create engaging social media content
- Work with a team to brainstorm creative concepts and campaigns and oversee their implementation.
- Utilize content creation platforms like Canva, CapCut, Adobe Suite, etc.
- Ability to develop long-form and short-form, platform appropriate storytelling.
- Form working relationships with a variety of members of the campus community.
Other duties may be assigned as needed by our business.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE FOR RIGHT FIT
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
- Ability to write, edit and proof with attention to audience, tone and nuance.
- Work and/or college experience in creating content (videos, photos, feature stories) for use on social media, websites or advertising.
- Demonstrate ability to develop aesthetic, on‑brand, compelling social media content.
- Demonstrated experience with current and developing social media channels and social media management software.
- Self‑motivated and flexible, with the ability to self‑manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to listen, synthesize information and write clearly and concisely.
- Strong time management, organization and start‑to‑finish project management skills.
- Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
- A portfolio of existing social media content is preferred.
