KCBS/KCAL is seeking a creative and dedicated Camera Technician. The primary duty involves shooting high‑quality, compelling visual content with News Reporters and Producers, responding to breaking news when required, and adapting quickly in fast‑moving environments.

General Responsibilities

• Direct lighting, set visual look and technical specifications for projects as a one‑person crew or part of a team.
• Ensure all pictures and sounds are of the highest quality and accurately captured.
• Work closely with Talent and Producers, providing logistic support and shot requirements.
• Operate ENG vehicles and maintain all gear, keeping it up to date and in working order.
• Troubleshoot quickly and effectively in a variety of circumstances.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years’ proven experience working as an ENG photographer in a large market.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to listen and provide constructive criticism.
• In‑depth knowledge of existing and evolving newsgathering technologies.
• Self‑motivated, proactive, and highly creative, telling stories with sound and images.
• Experience in logistics, special event planning and execution.

Requirements

• Valid US driver’s license with unrestricted ability to drive.
• Ability to lift over 50 lbs. of newsgathering equipment.
• Available to work weekends, long hours or varying shifts when necessary to meet production and broadcast deadlines under all weather conditions.
• Proficient with streaming technologies Dejero and LiveU.
• Able to travel for assignments that could last days or weeks abroad; applicants must provide a link to recent work examples.

Salary and Benefits

Hiring salary range: $54,118.00 – $122,476.00. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance, disability benefits, tuition assistance and PTO.
