Overview Communications & PR Director, US – TASCHEN Permanent employee, Full‑time Location: Los Angeles or New York Salary: $90,000 – $100,000 per year (excluding bonuses) Responsibilities Oversee media relations in the United States, ensuring alignment with global communication strategies Build and maintain relationships with key U.S. media across print, digital, and broadcast platforms Develop and execute publicity campaigns for book releases and special projects, including feature stories, reviews, and brand narratives Coordinate press interviews and speaking engagements for artists, executives, and talent based in the U.S. Collaborate with the Global Communications Team to develop global release strategies and ensure cohesive communication efforts Research and identify creative promotional opportunities for TASCHEN books, partnerships, and special projects in the U.S. market Organize and execute U.S.–based press events, including book launches, artist talks, and brand activations Oversee the creation and dissemination of press materials, including press releases, pitches, and media kits Support the development of internal and external publicity reports and ensure accuracy Collaborate with sales, marketing, and digital marketing teams to effectively integrate communication strategies Manage administrative tasks related to U.S. communications activities Travel to key U.S. press markets, including New York, to fortify media, partnerships, and talent network Qualifications At least 6 years in communications or press, demonstrating a consistent track record of securing high‑impact media placements Demonstrated access to a broad, well‑established network of media professionals, journalists, editors, and influencers across key verticals, including national and trade press Proven ability to actively leverage and mobilize this network to drive coverage, amplify key initiatives, and support brand positioning objectives Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the capacity to build and sustain long‑term partnerships based on trust, responsiveness, and mutual value creation Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with demonstrated expertise in developing clear, engaging, and strategically aligned messaging Capable of exercising sound judgment and strategic foresight in high‑pressure situations, including reputation management and media crises Highly collaborative, detail‑oriented, and adaptable within fast‑paced, cross‑functional team environments Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field; advanced degrees or industry certifications are a plus Offer Benefits package includes medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k) plan, and yearly performance reviews.
