Librarian/Information Competency Instructor (Bilingual), Part-time Adjunct Pool (Online)

Basic function: Kern Community College District accepts part-time, hourly faculty appointments on a continuous basis, allowing for immediate contact with qualified applicants. Applications remain active up to two years. This adjunct position instructs in Information Competency, both in the classroom and within the library, in English and Spanish, covering topics such as recognizing information needs, retrieval, evaluation, information formats, presentation, and legal/ethical aspects.
Representative Duties
Provide instruction in Information Competency in English and Spanish, in classroom and library settings.
Deliver day, evening, weekend, large, or distance‑learning classes using multiple teaching methodologies.
Perform academic reference, teach use of online library resources, develop and present research and writing workshops, promote library resources to faculty, and support general library activities such as collection development, subject guide development, and outreach.
Maintain subject‑matter currency; develop and revise curriculum; use computer and multimedia technology; participate collegially in departmental, college, and discipline‑specific professional activities.
Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science.
OR equivalent combination of education, experience, and accomplishments. Candidates with equivalent qualifications must submit an APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCE form.
Must have a demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions. Foreign degrees must be evaluated by a professional association member of NACES or ACEI.
