FUNCTION: In support of promoting successful User Experiences (UX) in both the physical and digital University Library, this position will maintain and improve User Interface (UI) by collaborating with our Web Development Team, Marketing and Communications staff, and Web Working Group; and will confer with clients to provide advice and technical assistance, managing/updating web content as well as train Library Staff on web content and tools.

Duties and Responsibilities

System Support and Content Management

Maintains and manages the University Library web presence to ensure consistent and up-to-date experience for all users.

Confers and collaborates with clients such as content creators and IT Web Team to keep content current and identify missing, duplicate, or outdated content, create new content, sites, or pages.

Develops or edits visual media or graphic elements of publications or web pages by addressing web maintenance issues such as regular content audits, media migration, resolving broken links, removing outdated content, and maintaining web-based information authenticity.

Innovation and Web Governance

Contribute, as part of a team, to the University Library web strategy, ensuring a user-focused, universally designed, and intuitive experience that captures and showcases our collections, services, spaces, and expertise.

Assist the UX and Web Strategy Coordinator addressing web-related tickets and requests from stakeholders as well as developing new web designs and identifying new dynamic web components.

Maintain, manage, and revise web related documents, such as policies and procedures, as assigned.

Digital Instruction and Communication

Develop and present training for Library staff detailing best practices for web content creation and digital accessibility, with an emphasis on optimizing content creation in WordPress, the University Library’s content management system.

Establish mechanisms for ongoing engagement in WordPress development and communities of practice, ensuring continual growth in personal knowledge and expertise.

Responsive Administrative Assistance

Perform additional duties related to the web environment to further the mission of the Library as assigned by the UX and Web Strategy Coordinator.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in public relations, advertising, communications, or a related field.

One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in communications, promotions, public relations, advertising, or event planning.

Preferred Qualifications

At least one (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in a library environment.

Professional experience creating and managing content in WordPress.

Experience producing and delivering training materials.

Knowledge of UX/UI, search engine optimization, or graphic design methods and standards.

Experience with designing/developing multimedia content.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong and proven project management skills and strong attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Possesses superior organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects while maintaining a high level of quality.

Ability to adhere to the University Library’s digital identity standards.

Meet project deadlines and demonstrate a critical eye for detail.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full‑time Civil Service Professional Exempt, Publicity‑Promotion Associate position, appointed on a permanent basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. The budgeted salary range for the position is $60,000 to $70,000. Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints.
