Overview
Skyworks Solutions is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Co-op student to join our RF engineering team, focusing on Bulk Acoustic Wave (BAW) filter design and development. This role offers hands-on experience in the design, simulation, and characterization of high-performance RF filters used in wireless communication systems. The student will work onsite full-time in our Andover, MA design center from January to May/June 2026. Term
Winter/Spring Co-Op (Jan '26 - June '26) Job Responsibilities
Assist in the design and simulation of BAW filters using industry-standard tools (e.g., ADS, HFSS, COMSOL). Conduct topology studies, evaluate design alternatives, and contribute to design optimization. Support Design reviews. Perform electrical characterization and data analysis. Support failure investigations. Assist in data processing/reporting tasks using Python or MATLAB. Document design procedures, test results, and technical findings. Required Experience and Skills
University student, currently enrolled in an MSEE/PhD Program in the Electrical Engineering field (BAW preferred, other similar acoustic fields are a plus). Must be able and available to work starting Jan 2026. Strong understanding of RF fundamentals, including S-parameters, Smith chart, impedance matching, and filter theory. Experience with EM and RF simulation tools. Familiarity with acoustic wave devices and piezoelectric materials is a plus. Good understanding of ladder filter topology and design techniques is also a plus. Periodic online meetings with our international team is a requirement. Desired Experience and Skills
Proficiency in EM modeling and RF simulation tools such as HFSS, Cadence, ADS, AWR, or similar. Basic knowledge of RF/microwave theory Experience with RF lab equipment Self-starter with a strong work ethic Willingness to work in a hands-on environment Strong time management skills Good communication, organization, and documentation skills Experience with Python programming and scripting is a plus #LI-DJ1 The typical pay range for an Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $26.00 - $47.50 per hour and for a Non-Engineering intern across the U.S. is currently USD $22.50 - $42.00 per hour. Starting pay will depend on level of education, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
