Position:
VDC Designer III - Dallas, TX
Responsibilities
Generate construction and fabrication drawings for manufacturing systems using AutoCAD, Revit, and related CADD tools for large, complex commercial and industrial projects.
Provide onsite field support as needed and coordinate with project leadership, shop fabrication managers, and field supervision; manage schedules and BIM logs with department and project managers.
Optimize models to drive design-for-manufacture and assembly (DfMA); maximize offsite fabrication opportunities and material management efficiencies.
Serve as Scrum Master to facilitate agile processes, remove obstacles, and liaise with other teams; plan and communicate Sprint plans bi-weekly or as needed.
Participate in Handover/BIM Kickoff meetings; understand scope, budget, and timeline; collect and distribute specifications and manage job profiles setup.
Review engineering and contractual documents; coordinate architectural and structural documents with project team; review equipment submittals for accuracy.
Coordinate draft construction drawings with other trades to ensure clearances and routings; attend Weekly BIM meetings with GC and subs.
Perform site surveys and field measurements to support conceptual and design drawing efforts.
Conduct final checks on trade drawings prior to fabrication release; provide completed drawings to shop and site management for fabrication and installation.
Review documents for conflicts; ensure compliance with local codes; identify issues and support RFI process resolution.
Manage document control during detailing; approve RFIs and provide input for Change Orders (CCOs); monitor cost and schedule alignment with project estimates.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Associate’s Degree in Drafting, Design Technology, or related field preferred.
5-7 years of relevant experience.
Basic understanding of current design software such as AutoDesk; working knowledge of drawing production and standard construction techniques.
Excellent organizational and leadership skills; strong verbal and written communication abilities.
In-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own discipline with ability to solve complex problems; ability to work independently and lead project steps; may act as a resource for colleagues.
