Overview
GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. is seeking a Civil / CAD Designer to support our engineering and consulting practice in Providence, Rhode Island. This position resides within our Data, Analytics and Visualization group, which is involved in a variety of private and public sector projects. Typical projects include site development, grading, storm water management, landfill engineering, sub-surface profiles, 3D terrain modeling, environmental data management and presentation, field survey data management and reduction, and preparing field stakeout files for GPS and total station survey equipment. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual who possesses the ability to multi-task, works with a team of diverse scientists and engineers, adheres to project deadlines, and demonstrates a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities
Preparing complete plan sets from marked-up plans and/or verbal instruction within a project team.
Providing engineering support in cut-fill estimates, volume calculations, watershed analysis, and site grading using Autodesk Civil 3D software.
Preparing detailed and accurate documentation and data analysis.
Performing technical execution of projects under the supervision of project managers.
May be asked to assist on projects and tasks outside of primary responsibilities.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Engineering Design or Technical/Vocational certification.
5+ years’ experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Valid driver’s license in good standing.
Professional attitude and self-motivation.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to follow directions, work independently and in teams.
Availability to work Monday through Friday and some evenings and weekends as project demands.
Strong attention to detail.
Problem-solving and organizational skills.
Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office suite.
Solid understanding of trigonometry and geometry.
Experience with ArcMap/GIS and/or MicroStation is desired but not required.
