Mechanical Designer

THE ROLE: This position is responsible for designing, developing and modifying products and accessories for Flygt products and retrofit business development. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Primarily utilize AutoCAD Release 2014, ProEngineer Creo Elements/Pro 5.0 or later software to perform applicable mechanical component design, layout and detail drafting work. Work on projects under the supervision of the Engineering Manager, Product Managers, Project Engineers and/or Senior Designers as required. Design accessories. Originate mechanical designs, conduct calculations in stress analysis, evaluate material selection, prepare sketches and conceptual drawings, and develop bills of materials and other related engineering data for construction of prototype equipment. Create or edit manufacturing drawings and/or solid models, electrical schematic drawings, wiring diagrams and layouts for engineering projects. Work closely with Engineering and other departments to analyze projects for manufacturability. Check component and assembly drawings of other department personnel as needed. Conduct necessary investigations relative to designs based on internal and customer requirements. Create catalog drawing files for products and accessories. Ability to work as needed to meet project deadlines. Participate in the training of future new Drafting department employees as needed. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Design or equivalent. Minimum of five (5) years progressive experience as a Mechanical CAD Designer. Working experience with AutoCAD 2012 or later, ProEngineer Creo Elements/Pro 5.0 or later. Able to effectively communicate written and verbally in the English language. Hands-on mechanical aptitude. Strong verbal and written communication skills. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Light lifting (20-25 lbs.), office environment. Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facility. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office: Standard office equipment; work usually performed in an office setting free from any disagreeable elements. Standard weekly job hours: 40 hours.
