The role involves obtaining prior authorization from payers for inpatient and outpatient services provided by Wayne Memorial Hospital. This position is crucial for ensuring proper coding of procedures, securing authorizations for payment, and assisting with reimbursement collection while minimizing insurance denials and bad debt balances. High School diploma or equivalent required; an Associate degree in Business, Finance, Health Information Management, or a related field is preferred. Requires at least one year of experience in healthcare, business, finance, or insurance-related fields. Knowledge of CPT and ICD coding, Medicare, and third-party payer regulations is preferred. Effective communication skills, cooperativeness, and discretion are essential. Basic computer and keyboard skills required. Medical terminology knowledge is preferred. Experience with word processing software (Word/Excel) is preferred.
