Overview
Open Rank Professor of Graphic Design Methodist University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Graphic Design to begin August of 2026. We seek a dedicated teacher-scholar with a strong commitment to undergraduate education, creative practice, and preparing students for today’s evolving design industry. The primary teaching assignment will be in graphic design and/or digital art. Depending on the strengths, qualifications, and background of the selected candidate, the teaching assignment may include both courses in the graphic design studio area and lecture courses such as history of graphic design and art appreciation. Job Location: Methodist University Location - Fayetteville, NC. Position Type: Full Time Faculty. Salary Range: Undisclosed.
Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate courses in motion design, interactive design, typography, packaging, software skills, etc.
Teach traditional graphic design studio courses at all levels of the curriculum
Engage students in current design practices and professional standards, emphasizing both technical proficiency and creative problem-solving skills
Maintain an active record of creative practice, research, and/or professional engagement
Mentoring students
Working as part of a team to measure efficacy of the graphic design major according to program outcomes and national standards
Developing and revising curriculum to improve student outcomes in the graphic design major
Participate in departmental, university, and community service activities

Qualifications
Master’s degree in Graphic Design or a directly related field required
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and other industry-standard tools and software required
Demonstrated professional industry experience in design required
1–3 years of experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate students preferred
Experience supervising and mentoring students in the context of internship and practicum work preferred
