Overview
Transportation (Roadway) Designer role at NV5. Location: Charlotte, NC. NV5 provides engineering and consulting services across multiple sectors and is seeking a full-time Transportation Designer to support the Transportation Design Group with design, calculations, CAD support, and project assistance. Responsibilities
Use project specifications, detailed drawings, and verbal instructions to complete assignments. Perform calculations, prepare material specifications, and provide preliminary sketches and notes for drawings. Plan, schedule, and execute all phases of a highway design project. Perform preliminary, right-of-way, and final engineering design. Work closely with engineers and project managers to obtain project information, recommend changes, and ensure drawings are accurate and complete. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering 0-3 years of previous roadway engineering experience EI certification a plus (at minimum, FE exam should be scheduled) Knowledge of Open Roads and/or MicroStation / GEOPAK / Corridor Modeling software a plus Experience with NCDOT design standards and practices is preferred Basic Microsoft Excel & Word skills Must be willing to travel on occasion Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to employment (preferred) Work Environment and Physical Demands
