They’re responsible for creating images that match client needs and desired outcomes. Illustrators translate concepts, ideas, or messages into two-dimensional images that convey ideas and emotions without additional explanation. Responsibilities Use software such as Adobe Creative Cloud for editing videos, graphic design, and photo processing Assist the publications team and project managers with design and layout of publications across various media Post on websites and troubleshoot broken links or outdated publications Follow GPO Style Manual, Plain Writing Act, and Section 508 guidelines Archive outdated publications in proper formats Organize and categorize videos for posting on Vimeo Organize and categorize photos for posting on Flickr Archive old publications from hard drives Coordinate with the NFS Library to ensure media accessibility Collaborate on livestreaming NTDP exposure opportunities Skills Required Meet with partners to discuss project needs and visions Brainstorm project ideas Create two-dimensional images per client requirements Sketch by hand or use digital tools for design Develop rough drafts and revise as needed Manage project deadlines Communicate effectively to understand client needs Experience with illustration software Strong conceptual skills Seniority level
