Overview
Instructor Digital Gaming and Simulation (Artist) – Adjunct Pool. Houston, Texas, System Wide. Requisition #23002FH. Post Date: Dec 17, 2024. We are looking for an Instructor Digital Gaming and Simulation who will advance the institution’s tradition of excellence in academics, student life and community service.
Responsibilities
Teach a variety of courses focusing on Digital gaming & simulation for programmers and/or artists, including 2D, 3D, AR/VR game development with professional experience in programming and/or scripting languages in C++ and C#.
Lecture and teach across multiple modalities, online and in-person.
Provide quality feedback while mentoring students in industry-related skills and expectations.
Mentor students in a workforce environment in developing their portfolios.
Develop and use a syllabus for each course, plan and use a variety of teaching methods and materials, and evaluate student progress in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate student records and submit related reports within requested timelines.
Participate in professional development and institutional and community service activities as part of the instructional faculty role.
Adhere to all policies and procedures of the institution and participate in college-related activities and accreditation processes as required.
Qualifications
Education : Associate degree in Gaming or related field required; Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred. Copy of transcript conferring required degree and certifications must accompany application.
Experience : 3 years working experience in gaming software development, as a game designer, artist, and/or programmer required. Portfolio required.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities :
Ability to work in a diverse work environment.
Willing and able to teach day or evening classes at several sites around the city.
Knowledge and skill in a variety of computer usage and software.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population.
Strong organizational and planning skills; ability to inspire and motivate students in a learning-centered environment.
Proficiency in development of concept and design documents, storyboarding, level design, version control, project management, game engine usage, and game testing methodologies. Virtual sculpting tools are a plus.
Mentor students in developing their portfolios.
Software knowledge: Unreal Engine, Unity, Maxon zBrush, Autodesk Maya, MS Visual Studio (11).
Able to teach Mathematics and Physics for games is a plus.
