Job Summary The College of Arts & Sciences seeks a tenure track Assistant Professor to teach courses in the discipline for majors and non-majors alike. This faculty position, based in the Department of Art, is a 10-month academic year position.
Responsibilities
Faculty - Teaching/Instructing
– Teaching responsibilities include full-time instructional load teaching in areas of expertise within the academic discipline, regular course meetings and instruction, mentoring students, contributing to the core curriculum, and teaching Digital Media courses spanning from introductory to advanced levels. All faculty contribute to the core curriculum and teach topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses.
Faculty - Service to Institution
– Support the department, college and university mission through service on committees, mentoring students, and participation in departmental outreach activities. Duties may include committee memberships, program direction and advising, participation in special programs or projects, and other institutional service.
Faculty - Professional Development
– Conduct research and professional development activities including publications, exhibitions, presentations at professional meetings, grants, memberships in professional organizations, and other scholarly or creative work.
Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Master of Fine Arts or other terminal degree in Digital Media, visual communications, graphic design, or related field by time of appointment. Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements as stated in C.S. 3.7.1.
Other Required Qualifications Applicants should demonstrate proficiency in design practices, including digital media, motion graphics, interactive design, animation, web, and print. Candidates who stay current with evolving technologies and bring inventive approaches to digital media and design education are especially desired.
Required Experience Some teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications Preferred Educational Qualifications Evidence of methodological innovation and creative teaching strategies is highly desirable.
Preferred Experience Instructor of record for college level classes in the related discipline; record of scholarly activity, publications, or creative works.
