Structural Designer 3

Position Type: Direct Placement Title: Structural Designer 3 Location: Florida Pay Range: Open – Negotiable JOB DUTIES: Prepare and modify scantling drawings. Perform detailed design/drafting of marine craft structures, plans, and outfitting for new shipbuilding and repair/conversion. 2D structural design with AutoCAD. 3D structural modeling with FORAN or Ship Constructor. Prepare assembly drawings, profile plots, and nests. Extracting views from the 3D model and preparing 2D drawings from those. Preparing change documents for various changes driven by program, production, client, or engineering. Providing solutions to complex structural and shipbuilding problems that arise daily in production, working in conjunction with other members of the team. Work closely with the specific supervisor to work efficiently towards meeting the schedule. Act as a mentor to designers I and II. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: An associate degree in drafting, engineering technology, or similar fields of study is preferred but not required. 5-10 years of experience in a ship-design/shipbuilding environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD, and adobe pdf. Experienced in ship structural design and drawings. Familiarity with 3D modeling software and learning new software as necessary. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Experience with ABS/USCG rules is highly desired but not required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
