Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Designer III will support and design structures and bussing for switchgear, panel boards, and electrical power distribution equipment to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient operation of States Mfg. products and processes. The role involves meeting and exceeding company quality and production standards, along with customer documentation and delivery requirements. Qualifications
Job Duties and Responsibilities Design mechanical structures and bussing for LV and MV switchgear assemblies, developing and implementing engineering standards, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and customer specifications within a project management framework to keep workflows within schedule and budget. Review and interpret customer specifications and sales agreements; receive guidance from mentors to create designs. Utilize or develop skills in 3D modeling with SolidWorks and related libraries. Enhance the design process through standardized practices, tools, and systems to improve quality, productivity, and reduce schedules and costs. Design mechanical components and fabrication parts for bussing systems, switchgear, panelboards, and control panels; sheet metal fabrication experience is preferred. Travel up to 10% as needed. Required Skills and Experience Ability to support and design multi-phase and DC switchgear, switchboards, and panelboards in line with customer requirements for LV and MV equipment. Support product assembly, manufacturing, and testing processes. Assist in creating product and project quotes with sketches and concepts. Proficiency or ability to learn Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Proficiency or ability to learn PDM, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and other 3D design tools.
