Join our team at Dorothea Dix Park! The Dix Park Communications Analyst - Website & Design plays a key role in shaping how people experience Dix Park—both online and in person. This position manages the park’s website, digital tools, and visual identity across platforms and materials.
As part of the Marketing & Communications team and reporting to the Marketing & Communications Manager, the analyst specializes in collaborating closely with colleagues across planning, operations, and programming. With a focus on accessibility, this role supports the park’s mission by creating engaging, cohesive digital and design experiences for all audiences.
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
Responsibilities
Administers tools and technologies used to create and manage visual assets, maintaining and implementing up-to-date date best practices, accessibility standards, and emerging trends and technologies
Supports website development, content and monitor website analytics
Maintains the park’s GIS-based visitor map
Ensures consistency and adherence to brand guidelines across all design projects and platforms.
Designs graphics for wide range of materials including web, print, signage, reports, and presentations. Develops graphic maps for multiple applications in alignment with the park’s visual identity
Manages print production process to ensure quality and timely deliverables, including preparing files for print production, including selecting appropriate formats, resolutions, and color profiles
Coordinates photo and video documentation including contract services
Oversees the digital asset management of photo, video, and graphics of the park to ensure data quality, proper use and access to information
Works closely with cross-functional teams including park planning, operations, and programming teams to understand design requirements and project goals
Effectively communicates design concepts and rationale to team members and stakeholders
This position will drive gators around Dix Park for media promotions for special events
Education and Experience Associate Degree or 2 Years of College in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Public Affairs, Public Administration, or related field, and 1 to 3 years' experience in public relations, communications, public affairs, graphic design, content management, or related field.
OR
Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.
Licensing and Certifications
Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Public Communication experience
Digital Asset Management software experience
Between two (2) and five (5) years of professional graphic design experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Microsoft Office Suite
Website content management systems (Drupal, WordPress, etc.) and web design principles
Continuous up-to-date knowledge of industry leading software and technologies
Dedication to creating content for wide audiences in all aspects of work
Working independently and enjoys creative problem-solving
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees
Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and follow-through
ADA and Other Requirements Work Environment and Physical Effort: Sedentary: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Work Environment: Work is typically performed in an office or similar indoor environment. Employees may occasionally work in an outdoor environment, street environment (near moving traffic), construction site, confined space, or in a vehicle.
Work Exposures: Work in this position does not require frequent environmental exposures. Employees may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts and loud noises (85+ decibels average over 8-hour working day such as heavy trucks, jack hammers, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, construction).
