The Vice President, Marketing and Ecosystem Platforms and Engineering is a key leadership role within Pfizer’s Digital and Technology organization, reporting to SVP Digital Commercial and Center for Digital Innovation (C4). This leader combines execution with vision — solving complex engineering problems, designing resilient architectures, and ensuring delivery of high‑quality platforms and services.

Responsibilities

Enterprise Strategy and Innovation

– Define and evolve the enterprise platform strategy in alignment with Pfizer’s long‑term business priorities and digital transformation agenda; embed continuous improvement and innovation into daily operations across C4; lead the design of solutions for complex, multi‑faced problems with long‑term enterprise impact; anticipate emerging challenges such as AI governance and platform sustainability; demonstrate deep commercial business knowledge and a strong grasp of external market trends.

Technology Leadership

– Oversee the architecture, design, and delivery of Pfizer’s global commercial platforms, including Adobe suite, Web and Mobile Platform ecosystem, Python and AWS automation, Salesforce Marketing CRM, CDP, and Identity Platforms; decide on platform selection, vendor partnerships, technical designs, and implementation roadmaps; champion privacy‑first and security‑first engineering practices; lead FinOps strategies to optimize cloud spend; serve as a recognized technical authority in commercial architecture.

Organizational Influence

– Serve as a strategic advisor on enterprise‑wide initiatives; influence senior leadership and external stakeholders through thought leadership and recognized expertise; represent C4 in governance forums, steering committees, and industry engagements.

People and Culture

– Define people, technology, and financial resourcing strategy for the Platform Engineering team; lead a diverse, global team of leaders and engineers, fostering agility, inclusion, accountability, and excellence; build talent pipelines through succession planning, leadership development, and technical training programs; act on developer experience survey results and engineer feedback to continuously improve ease of delivery and quality of work life.

Delivery and Operations

– Ensure delivery of high‑quality platforms and services from inception through global deployment; oversee large‑scale delivery programs, platform operations, and vendor partnerships with measurable business and technical outcomes; optimize delivery economics through disciplined estimation and contract negotiation.

Incident Management and Resilience

– Lead responses to critical security incidents and operational outages; direct technical troubleshooting and guide teams through root‑cause analysis and long‑term remediation; drive resilience engineering practices and implement post‑mortem reviews to prevent recurrence; ensure all solutions are designed with privacy and security by design principles.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering, or Technology Management preferred, coupled with relevant technical experience emphasizing software development and maintenance.

Minimum of 15 years of experience as an information technology professional with increasing responsibility designing, delivering, and maintaining large‑scale, global systems in platform engineering, architecture, and emerging technologies.

Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and decision‑making skills; strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships, influence outcomes, and deliver effective presentations to diverse senior audiences.

Ability to influence enterprise strategy and lead large‑scale transformation in a regulated environment, with experience leading enterprise software implementations in a global, 24x7 setting.

Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of the pharma industry, customer requirements, and general business environment to adapt and implement strategic projects.

Strong team and people leadership, with experience managing large global organizations, guiding and growing leaders of leaders in a complex, global matrix with geographically distributed teams and indirect resources.

Financial acumen, managing financial resources and staff to meet goals across multiple functions and projects.

Vendor sourcing model definition and effective execution; experience in vendor negotiations with cited impacts to strategic direction and in‑line production products.

Familiarity with one or more of the following technologies: Adobe Enterprise Platforms (Workfront, Experience Manager, Express, Firefly); Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Data Cloud, LifeSciences Cloud; Generative and Agentic AI technologies; Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services; AWS and other Cloud/SaaS platforms including licensing and cost optimization practices; modern web development frameworks and JavaScript patterns.

Non‑Standard Work Schedule, Travel or Environment Requirements Travel will be required as part of this role. Candidates must be capable of travel within the region, to other regions, and to Pfizer World Headquarters in NY. Business technology is a 7x24x365 endeavor; this role may require physical or virtual participation on a weekend, holiday, or after normal business hours.
