This Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Early Career Lighting Designer for our Denver, CO

office. Be involved in projects with our Property & Buildings Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.

This is a full-time position providing technical and design support for project designers with the production of lighting projects. At WSP, we work on a variety of project types including commercial, healthcare, hospitality, civic, stadiums, exterior landscapes, data centers, government, and educational facilities.

Your Impact

Under general supervision, provides technical support for project designers with the production of lighting projects. Tasks may include basic assistance with the research, design, concept development, lighting layout, and architectural coordination for all project types.

Assist with performing basic professional lighting design work relating to conducting research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, layout, and systems to determine conformance with applicable standards and codes.

Assist with basic technical assistance on various design, installation, and integration issues relating to creating state of the art lighting design that is innovative and inspiring, developing luminaire and controls specifications, applying daylighting/harvesting, and creating spaces that impact building capabilities, ambiance, safety, and security.

Assist with generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation and specifications using electronic systems, artistic renderings, drawings, diagrams, illustrations, spreadsheets, and reports.

Assist with lighting calculations, analysis and rendering studies and use results to inform project decisions.

Complete training on assigned tasks.

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Who You Are Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Lighting Design Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Interior Design, Theater Production Design or related degree.

0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.

Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.

Familiarity with process and concepts for sustainable lighting strategies, principles, and practices.

Creative skills with an ability to balance lighting aesthetics and client desires with practical concerns.

Familiarity with process and concepts for sustainable architectural lighting strategies, principles, and practices.

Familiarity with relevant lighting design and installation and/or construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.

Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.

Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.

Basic proficiency with artistic renderings, technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.

Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Revit, 3DS Max, InDesign).

Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Revit, InDesign, Sketchup).

Recent graduate in an accredited Architectural Engineering, or related, Undergraduate or Graduate program.

The successful candidate will have 1-2 semesters of internship experience in Architectural Lighting Design.

Experience using AGI32 Software or other lighting calculation program, Photoshop or other rendering software.

Compensation Expected Salary (Colorado only): $58,200 - $90,200

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
