The Role
Partner with the Head of Knitwear to build the seasonal collection architecture, ensuring alignment with Thom Browne’s overarching creative vision
Lead the conceptualization and design of innovative cut and sew knitwear pieces that reflect the brand’s distinct aesthetic, drawing inspiration from art, architecture, cultural movements, and emerging trends
Direct and contribute to inspiration research, overseeing the creation of internal mood boards and visual research guides to inform the knitwear team’s creative development
Manage the end-to-end design and development process—from initial sketching and fabric/yarn sourcing to tech pack creation, fittings, and final approvals
Lead technical and production fittings with the Product Development team, providing expert feedback on fit, construction, and material performance
Oversee fabric and yarn sourcing, with an emphasis on custom development and close collaboration with Italian mills and manufacturing partners
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including Product Development, and other category designers—to integrate knitwear seamlessly into the broader collection
Present concepts and technical developments to senior leadership and external stakeholders, clearly articulating creative and strategic rationale
Stay at the forefront of materials innovation, production techniques, and knitwear technologies; conduct regular research into market and industry trends to inform design decisions
Provide hands-on mentorship to junior designers, ensuring the quality and consistency of creative output while fostering a collaborative studio culture
The Ideal Candidate
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in fashion design with a specific focus on knitwear, preferably within the luxury or high-end fashion sector
A proven track record of developing successful knitwear collections, supported by a strong portfolio demonstrating technical and creative excellence
Deep understanding of cut and sew knitwear construction, fabric properties, and garment engineering
Proficiency in technical drawing, CAD, and other design software tools
Exceptional ability to translate creative concepts into wearable designs that are both innovative and commercially viable
Strong aesthetic sensibility with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to the brand’s identity
Excellent communication and presentation skills
What We Offer You
Competitive compensation. Salary Range is $100,000 - $120,000 + target bonus. Please note that compensation will be offered based on relevant skills and experience
