Under administrative direction, coordinates the activities of the division within the department, to include monitoring division's budget, management of staff, and the coordination of all department communication to be consistent with Citywide policies. Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff.

Responsibilities
Works with leadership to develop key communications strategy.
Manages content strategy and development for external communications such as community-focused newsletter, social media strategy, and other materials.
Identifies key communication themes and messages to reinforce initiatives, values, and culture.
Oversees department and community outreach initiatives and events.
Develops, prepares, and participates in community events through presentations, seminars, and open houses.
Represents the division/department before various boards, committees, and community groups.
Oversees internal communications including newsletters, internal messages, and branding.
Prepares written reports, summaries, and presentations for internal and external communication.
Develops communication strategies and messaging for department senior leadership.
Coordinates across divisions to develop content and narratives highlighting the key work of the department.
Travels to different locations to participate in community events and outreach programs.
Interviews, selects, supervises, develops, evaluates, counsels, and if necessary, disciplines personnel according to established COSA policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in marketing, communications, or a related field to include two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience
Valid Class 'C' Texas Driver's License

Unless otherwise stated, applicants are permitted to substitute two years of related full-time experience for one year of higher education or one year of related higher education for two years of experience in order to meet the minimum requirements of the job. One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months. One year of higher education is defined as 30 credit hours completed at an accredited college or university.
