This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus
The Instructional Designer in the Center for Teaching Excellence collaborates with faculty and staff to strengthen teaching and learning through instructional design support, consultation, and resource development. This role plays an important part in helping instructors enhance student engagement and success by providing guidance on course design and evidence-based teaching practices. Core responsibilities include designing and facilitating workshops, creating instructional materials such as guides and handouts, and supporting faculty with course development and updates. The Instructional Designer also partners with faculty to explore effective uses of educational technologies and provides guidance on integrating Open Educational Resources (OER) into courses when appropriate. Through this collaborative work, the Instructional Designer contributes to the mission of the Center by promoting innovative, accessible, and student-centered teaching across the college.
Responsibilities
Design and facilitate workshops on instructional design and evidence-based teaching practices.
Create instructional materials such as guides and handouts.
Support faculty with course development and updates.
Partner with faculty to explore effective uses of educational technologies.
Provide guidance on integrating Open Educational Resources (OER) into courses when appropriate.
Qualifications A master’s degree in education or another directly related field and experience in curriculum development.
Teaching experience in higher education.
Experience developing and leading training and workshops in a higher education setting.
Experience with Open Educational Resources (OER).
Experience with various educational technologies.
